Who is God? (Part 4) God is sovereign and faithful.

God’s sovereignty sets Him apart from all humanity. He is supreme, the utmost, the highest authority, independent and capable of achieving all He intends. He is awesome and almighty.

Deuteronomy 10:17
For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.
Psalm 103:19
The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.
Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Another name for a king or queen is a sovereign. The sovereign in a land holds honor, respect, and the attention of all.

God is worthy of all respect, awe, glory and honor. Let’s be eager to pray, praise, and trust God’s purpose in all circumstances.

God is Faithful.

The word faithful brings to mind concepts of steadfast trust. It’s not a word used outside of religion much these days. Truthfully, in pondering the word faithful, our dogs came to mind. For some reason, it seems dogs are described as faithful more than people. We agree that dogs are faithful:  always loyal, true to their masters and constant in their affection. Our dogs are a picture of faithfulness and often they are an example to us of how we should be faithful to God.

God’s faithfulness extends beyond our finite understanding. He has always been faithful (reliable, trustworthy, loyal, constant, and true) in all He is and all He does.

Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
