Expect God (Part 2) Purpose

Expect means to look forward to; regard as likely to happen; anticipate the occurrence or the coming of

It’s no wonder that we use the word “expecting” when referring to pregnancy. We have three children. As the due date got closer, the more we expected a birth would happen.

Without God, we expect based on our earthly experience: delight or disappointment, importance or insignificance, favored or forgotten. But God’s purpose inspires from the truth of His word, the Bible. God beckons us to hope for and expect what we do not already see (Heb. 11:1).
God’s word tells us He is doing great things in us.

Job 42:1-2
Then Job replied to the LORD: 2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
Matthew 19:26
And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Philippians 2:13 (CSB)
For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose.
1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Expectations and faith require that we look to God and the future He intends for us. We anticipate God’s purpose in our lives, not relying on our present strength. We expect God’s deliverance to arrive in His perfect timing and that all things will work according to His purpose.
