Believe God (Part 2) Unchanging and Everlasting

Why is it easier to believe our senses and physical evidence over spiritual truths? How do we learn to believe God’s word more than anything we can see, touch, hear or taste?

God reveals His truth and faithfulness in His word. He demonstrates His dependability through physical evidence—the consistency of day and night, the magnitude of the heavens, the minuteness of an atom, and the distinct qualities He has placed within each human being. He is the Creator of all, yet often we do not turn to, praise, or trust God.

Scripture reminds us to believe God more than what we see.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NCV)
We live by what we believe, not by what we see.

The core element of a life of hope, joy, peace, and purpose is rooted in believing God in all circumstances.

Hebrews 10:23 (NCV)
Let us hold firmly to the hope that we have confessed, because we can trust God to do what he promised.

Believing God gives us hope. We then respond to God instead of react to circumstances.

God created each of us to be unique and wonderful (Ps. 139:14). Some of us like the mystery of the unknown. Some of us do not. God assures us that we can believe Him, even though we cannot physically see Him, because He does what He promises. Even in the unknown, this is truth because it is God’s word (John 17:17).

We live in a physical world where change is constant. Technology develops on a daily basis and updates are transferred around the world in seconds. Transition is expected in our lives, but God is trustworthy and He does not change. This fact encourages us to believe God—accept Him as true, genuine, or real; to have a firm conviction as to His goodness, efficacy, or ability.

James 1:17(NCV)
Every good action and every perfect gift is from God. These good gifts come down from the Creator of the sun, moon, and stars, who does not change like their shifting shadows.

Another “belief-building” characteristic of God is that He is everlasting. There is no time or measurement that limits God. He has no beginning or end. Humans are consumed with the temporary and fleeting nature of life but God is timeless.

God speaks of His infinity in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 1:8(NCV)
The Lord God says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the One who is and was and is coming. I am the Almighty.”

God is always faithful. We turn to Him, praise Him and trust Him as we navigate the circumstances of life.
